Dr. Michael Liebrenz

Prof. Dr. med. Michael Liebrenz is Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Bern and a leading figure in sports psychiatry. He bridges clinical expertise, research, and innovation to strengthen mental health support across elite sport.

He founded and directs the Mental Health Support Hub Swiss Cycling, offering confidential, expert-led care for professional athletes, and established SportsMindLab.ch, the Swiss Laboratory for Sports Psychiatry and Elite Recovery, to advance applied research and consultancy for federations and teams.

Internationally, Prof. Liebrenz is a regular invited speaker at the UCI World Tour Seminar, the UCI Junior World Conference, and the Science & Cycling Congress. His work spans cycling, football, and Formula One, focusing on resilience, recovery, and sustainable performance.
